a minimalist lifestyle

A minimalist lifestyle is helpful for your financial situation especially when you have dozens of things to spend every day, or raising children in a big city.

Do you want a peaceful, quiet life, and less worrying about physical things? Do you want more time for yourself to do meaningful things? Do you want to have more life experience instead of shopping that consumes your hours of hard working? Would you like to save extra money for emergencies and reinvest it?

If so, try to learn minimalism and practice it. It is a miracle indeed! My husband and I have 3 children, working in offices from 9 to 5, still have been able to save more than 50% of our income each year from this lifestyle.

Unless you are so rich and have no idea how to spend your money, you don’t need to read this article anymore.

But most of the case we still need to use our money wisely.

Reasons to live a minimalist lifestyle

First, a minimalist lifestyle will help you have more time and space:

If you see that you don’t have much time to clean the house because you have to take care of the kids, or you have to go to work from 9 to 5, or if you are seeing clothes piled up in the closet, many stuff in the house and they take up the whole aisle, or when you buy something new and don’t know where to put it in your house, then your should think of a minimalist lifestyle.

A minimalist lifestyle focuses on getting rid of unnecessary things to make room for the things that are really value. From there, the feeling of suffocation and shortness of breath when you are in a narrow space will disappear, giving way to a spacious space. And strangely, an empty house will make your spirit more like “there is some qualified space” and your will feel more relaxed. Only those who have experienced it can understand this feeling. That’s why I always want to be in a space with as little furniture as possible. I like an empty room!

A room with less furniture will be less dusty, much easier to clean, from which cleaning time is also reduced, you will have more time to do other things… such as finding something to earn more money. Or simply going out with friends, children, spending more time with them.

Secondly, creativity is often enhanced by minimizing unimportant things:

I admire Steve Jobs because he always appears in public with the same clothes: Black T-shirt and jeans. When appearing in front of a crowd, this image is a familiar image.

And Apple’s product launch is widely welcomed, it eliminates redundant details to the maximum and leaves only the most quintessential!

Or the owner of Facebook – Mark Zuckerberg is also extremely very simple in style. I observe that creative people keep things simple, because they will prioritize what they really need, such as developing a new product. They focused on the things they really needed and simplified the other unimportant things.

You can see that it is necessary to live a minimalist lifestyle to omit what is not really important, to focus strongly on what to focus on, then the success rate will be higher.

Writing also requires minimalism: to simplify the words, streamline the meaning to convey to readers really quality and valuable contents. Because nowadays, everyone’s time is precious, even for reading time. You should only read articles that are valuable to you. A spacious, quiet space will give the author a higher creative inspiration, making room for more ideas than a narrow, cramped space.

As a mother of 3, I have a full-time job, no maids, no grandparents to support caring my children, but thanks to minimalist lifestyle, I have more time for blogging.

Third, living a minimalist lifestyle is a wise choice in times of inflation and economic recession:

After the Covid pandemic, companies took turns cutting staff. The economy faced unprecedented difficulties…. You don’t know if you’re on the black list or not, and you’re not sure if your work life is forever stable. Therefore, spend carefully on anything you buy, to save more and to have more profitable investments to help you feel more secure.

Because who knows, what will happen tomorrow….

Today, spending less with cautious shopping are really widespread. I believe that many people are choosing to live a minimalist lifestyle to find a sense of financial security. Hard-earned money will be used for profitable reinvestment rather than to buy more material possessions to just “be glorious” to the world.

Suggestions for practicing a minimalist lifestyle

First, live a minimalist lifestyle by giving or selling things you no longer need:

Minimalism is putting away the things you no longer need. You can sell or donate or throw away old, worn out, no longer use items.

The biggest barrier to practicing this is the feeling of regret having to let go of things you’ve bought, or given as gifts… So you can slowly get rid of them, a little bit every day or every week. You can put them aside, if after a year you don’t use them, you can get rid of them completely.

Second, live a minimalist lifestyle by shopping with purpose:

If you can’t get rid of things, don’t buy more! This is my current motto whenever I’m tempted by something.

Limit your shopping or buy only what you really need instead of shopping for cute things. Before spending money to buy something, you need to consider answering the question: if this item breaks down later, will I still buy it and replace it? If the answer is no, you don’t need to buy it anymore.

In shopping, you should focus on quality to use it longer. Qualified items can cost a bit higher, but if used for a longer time, the average cost will be much less than cheap items that can break quickly.

Third, live a minimalist lifestyle by spending time on essential things, and essential relationships:

Take the time to identify what is important to you in this life: the relationships you need to nurture, the health to improve, the more experiences you need… to choose to spend more time on those…

If you like reading books, instead of buying them, you can read them on a Kindle or go to the library to borrow books to read and then return them. Because with a book you have finished reading, if the book is so good, you can only read it 2 or 3 more times and then put it on the shelf forever. This is the method that I am currently using. In the past, I also bought a lot of books to fill the bookshelf, after reading it, I rarely touched them anymore.

You can prioritize time to exercise, improve and maintain health…

You can also prioritize time for walking, or playing with your children….

Or you can also spend time picnicking, traveling with loved ones…

Do anything that will make you feel happier, better for you…. That’s how minimalism works: Get rid of the unnecessary, make room for the meaningful things.

Don’t misunderstand minimalist lifestyle with thrifty spending, restrain your desires!

Sometimes even living a minimalist lifestyle spends more on experiential activities…. But the important thing is that you find this lifestyle is meaningful to you, it is good for you…. Do not frame a minimalist lifestyle with people who own only a few things in their backpack…. It all depends on the circumstances, priorities of each person….

However, if surfing TikToc, Facebook, or social networks is your hobby, and you spend hours every day on them, it is worth revisiting…. Because in the end, are they useful to you, is it worth your time, what have you learned? Or after that is the feeling of indecision, eyestrain, mental dullness… It should be minimized…

Conclusion

There have been many authors writing about minimalist lifestyle. When approaching, I think this way of life need to be considered. This lifestyle is gradually becoming a trend because of today living environment (like myself, saving a bunch of money every year to prevent uncertainty, and feel more secure).

However, if you like a comfortable life with all the modern things around, then do it your way. A minimalist lifestyle is just a suggestion. If you find it is suitable for you, then you should try it.

Wishing you peace and good health!
